Newsletter

The Current UK Briefing is the daily newsletter from Current UK (currentuk.co.uk), operated by Sliema Media Limited (registered in Malta, company number C 84217, registered office: Level 3, Tower Business Centre, Tower Street, Swatar, Birkirkara BKR 4013, Malta). The publication is independent and adheres to the editorial standards set by Editor-in-Chief William Ashby. This newsletter is curated entirely by the human editorial team; no automated system generates content.

What is in The Current UK Briefing?

The Briefing delivers essential UK reporting with the context needed to understand why each story matters. Every edition opens with a lead analysis of the day’s most consequential political or economic development, followed by concise summaries of key stories in business, technology, world affairs and public life. Each item is fact-checked and reviewed by an editor before inclusion.

The newsletter avoids spin and clickbait. Instead, subscribers receive clear, practical explanations that help them grasp complex issues – whether that is a Whitehall policy change, a company results announcement or a new regulation affecting consumers. The aim is to save you time while keeping you genuinely informed.

How often is it published?

The Current UK Briefing is sent every weekday morning, typically before 7am UK time. Special editions are released for major breaking stories, election results, budget statements and other events where immediate, contextual reporting adds value. These special editions are clearly labelled and always include editorial review.

There is no charge for the standard daily edition. Sponsored editions or commercial supplements are clearly identified and are never produced without explicit editorial approval. Frequency may change only with prior notice in the newsletter itself.

Who curates the newsletter?

The newsletter is curated by the entire editorial team under the supervision of William Ashby, Editor-in-Chief. Sarah Mills, Managing Editor, oversees the daily production schedule. Kieran Doherty, Politics & Public Affairs Editor, selects and contextualises political content. Business and economy items are chosen by Lucy Hartley, and broader features by Oscar Friel.

Diane Forbes, Standards & Fact‑Checking Lead, verifies all claims before publication. You can read full biographies of every team member on the Our Team page. The editorial team meets each morning to discuss the day’s news agenda and to decide what deserves space in the Briefing.
