If you have documents, emails, internal reports, or correspondence, please attach them in their original format. Provide your contact details if you are willing to be contacted for verification, though anonymous submissions are accepted. A brief summary of your tip (200 words or fewer) helps editors assess its urgency and relevance quickly.
How does Current UK verify tips?
Every tip is reviewed by our Standards & Fact-Checking desk, led by Diane Forbes, under our published fact-checking policy and Sources & Standards framework.
We cross-check all factual claims against primary sources, official records, and independent corroboration. Named sources are expected to provide verifiable credentials; anonymous sources are used only when the information is of clear public interest and the source faces demonstrable risk. AI-assisted tools may support research or formatting, but no editorial content is published without human editor approval. Fabricated quotes, sources, or interviews are strictly prohibited under our AI & Automation Policy. Verification typically involves multiple rounds of fact-checking and legal review before publication.
Can I submit a tip confidentially?
Yes. Current UK treats all tip submissions as confidential by default and will not disclose your identity without your explicit consent.
If you wish to remain anonymous, do not include identifying information in your submission. You may use encrypted email or a secure drop. We will not pursue contact unless you invite it. Confidentiality is guaranteed for all sources who request it, subject to legal obligations. What happens after I submit a tip?
Your tip is logged and assigned to the appropriate editor or reporter within 48 hours. You will receive an automated acknowledgment of receipt.
If the tip is selected for further investigation, an editor or reporter may contact you for clarification or additional evidence. Not every tip results in a story; we assess each submission against editorial priorities, verifiability, and public-interest value. If we decide not to pursue your tip, we will generally inform you within 14 days, though we may not provide detailed reasoning. Corrections to published stories should be sent to corrections@currentuk.co.uk under our corrections policy.
