What is the best time to visit Egypt for good weather?
The best months for most travellers are October to April, when daytime temperatures are pleasant rather than scorching. November and December are particularly popular for Red Sea resorts like Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, with sea temperatures still warm enough for swimming. July and August can be intensely hot, especially in Luxor and Aswan, making early-morning sightseeing essential.
How does the weather vary across Egypt?
Coastal areas along the Mediterranean and Red Sea enjoy milder summers and cooler winters than the interior. In Cairo and the Nile Valley, summer highs regularly exceed 35°C, while winter nights can drop to single figures. Desert regions see extreme daily swings, so a light jacket is useful even in summer after sunset. What should I pack for Egypt?
Light, breathable fabrics are essential, but also bring a scarf or shawl for modesty and sun protection. In winter, especially for desert trips or evening walks, a fleece or jacket is advisable. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a reusable water bottle are non-negotiable. Is Egypt safe to visit in summer?
Yes, but you need to plan around the heat. Stay indoors between 11am and 3pm, drink plenty of water, and avoid strenuous activities. Air conditioning is widespread in hotels and tourist sites.
Does it ever rain in Egypt?

What is the weather like in Sharm el Sheikh compared to Hurghada?
Both are very similar: hot summers around 35°C and mild winters around 22°C. Hurghada can be slightly windier in spring, while Sharm el Sheikh benefits from more sheltered bays. Sea temperatures are virtually identical.
